As the International Day of the Child approaches on June 1, BlueCheck Ukraine is honoring the courage of innocent Ukrainian children, who have been purposefully and relentlessly targeted by Russia in violation of international law.

Since Russia’s assault on Ukraine began more than two years ago:

• Nearly 30,000 children have been forcibly transferred to Russia, where they are indoctrinated against their home country in violation of international law
• More than 1,950 children have been verified by the UN to have been killed or injured in the fighting (the number is likely much higher)
• At least 1,800 children have been orphaned

From May 28–June 1, the “Week of Courage,” BlueCheck will be raising awareness and money for local Ukrainian organizations that provide an array of services to children desperately in need of rehabilitation and support. As part of the effort, Phil Fusco, founder of Phillip’s Love Bears, has created a special edition lion that will be given to donors who contribute a minimum of $250 at BlueCheck.in/Courage, while supplies last.

Lions are a symbol both of Ukraine and courage, making them a poignant reminder of the bravery Ukrainian children have demonstrated as the war continues to rage.
